Project

Beechwood Grange is a mixed development of 33 quality houses in seven distinctive styles ranging from 3 bedroom terraced to 5 bedroom detached homes. Located in the West Midlands, the Developer Kings Oak is a major homebuilder.

Fire risk analysis

Fire service recommendations were for full domestic fire sprinklers, as the access for fire tenders was difficult due to the narrow layout of the roads on the scheme.

Solution

Full residential fire sprinklers were installed in all 33 houses to comply with Fire Service recommendations. Two water supplies were provided to each property, a 32mm MDPE non-metered supply for the fire sprinklers, and a 25mm MDPE conventional metered supply for the domestic water. Schemes were designed for each of the seven house styles using concealed CPVC pipe work and modern recessed sprinklers. The systems were fitted during the normal build phase, causing no disruption or delay to construction times. All habitable areas were protected in accordance with BS9251:2005 and compact electronic alarm packs fitted to provide a modern and elegant solution for this popular development.
