Retail kiosks sited within Shopping Malls.

Fire risk analysis

Fire Safety Officers determined that kiosks and merchandise posed a fire risk, and requested that they be fitted with a suitable fire suppression system. The suppression systems will operate under the ‘umbrella’ of the shopping Malls own fire sprinkler systems.

Solution

After discussions with the Client, the Mall Operator and the local Fire Brigade, it was decided to fit the AQ90 ceiling mounted, thermally operated automatic extinguisher to all kiosks. Dry Chemical powder was selected, as it is a good general-purpose agent suitable for type ABC fires. Each unit was fitted with a signal switch connected to the Malls’ fire alarm system that can easily be disconnected and reconnected if the kiosk is moved to a different location.
